I was one of those who came on Wednesday evening. My husband was reluctant to go but enjoyed the evening too. The format was just right!
I would like to see citizens invited to draw up their own Visions of Christchurch. I can see various halls around the city being used and school halls used to get secondary students involved. For the CBD for example we could use one of Di's plans showing all the waterways. Similar poster sized templates which could be provided online, could be used for all the suburbs. When they are submitted they could be laminated. Then others could go past and write on a sheet below as to how they might modify that plan.
Each day people could use non permanent markers on the laminated surface to draw in modifications. They could then be erased ready for more ideas the next day. Those who go to look and modify might then be inspired to go and do a further drawing on a template sheet . Hopefully some great ideas would come out of it.
In other word there should be real consultation. We do not want professionals to be the only ones consulted. It's OUR CITY.
Anyway thanks for your input so far.Posted by Deborah, 28/04/2011 3:03pm (1 year ago)
